The shelf on http://www.vpbookclub.com does not use this component. In fact, this component appears to be modeled after the one on that site. The performance seems to be faster, with a significantly larger amount of books, any idea how they achieved this?

I can not find your bookshelf anywhere... except the site you provided and then the following site : http://www.vpbookclub.com/.

i can not find it on flash den and am really really interested in how you designed this.

where can I get access to this?
or even purchase it?

Thanks for your time-

Sweet work. I noticed the left>right issue as well. I think I understand what's causing it: the books moving under the mouse. Maybe you could give preference to the next item in the list instead of going by the mouseOver. But I don't think it's a big deal either way. People can still find their way to what they want.

It looks nice, but acts a little weird (if you try to browse slowly from left to right, some narrow books will be skipped, because they move past the mouse when the previous book gets "put back" in the shelf)
